"work is where the self meets the world" - david whyte

Over the past 25 years,  I have had the opportunity to view the profession of Massage Therapy through the lens of therapist, colleague, client, instructor, clinic owner, multi-diciplinary rehab team member, professional body board member and student.

As a massage therapy student so many years ago, I remember an instructor asking the class "Is this going to be your job or your vocation ?" This question has stuck with me and it is a question I have re-asked myself many times over the years to check in on next steps for my career.

For me, being a therapist is my vocation.  The work feels intimately connected to who I am.  It has served me well over the years and I hope  I have been of service to it.  Eventually, my goal is to share what I have learned to newly graduated therapists as a way to help them advance their careers and the profession.
